Ever since we realised our power to harness nature, we have used it to make our life comfortable and more convenient. However, we have been over-utilising this authority and damaging nature. Global warming and environmental pollutions are threatening our existence on this planet. However, we are neglecting our obligations to protect our planet. This is primarily because we do not realize the real consequences of it and still believe that it can be dealt with in distance future.
Despite of headline on TV and newspapers, we are still not aware of destiny of this world. We work hard to save money in order to have a house and a car, or to use for children’s education. However, we cannot estimate to what extend the matters have impact on the world due to global warming and pollutions.
Another reason of why we are indifferent to environmental issues is lack of confidence. We do not know if it could be dealt with in the future. As a result, we are more concerned about solving immediate problems such as shortage of food and house, traffic congestions, medical supply, than preventing disasters which can be predicted in the future. When extreme high temperature days, devastating floods, drought, and forest fire strike, we finally realize the result of our actions. However, most people still believe that advanced technology will be able to manage environmental issue easily like Sci-Fi movies do.
These beliefs and attitudes are mistaken. We need to take right actions to deal with the damage. The young generation must be taught their obligations to preserve nature in schools. Moreover, governments should adopt practical laws that prohibit citizens from, for example, using disposal goods, which are harmful to environment, or that offer tax incentives to people who take actions to mitigate environmental matters.
In conclusion, if we do not want to make this planet barren, every single person should think seriously about how to save this beautiful planet for all of us.
